A very hard fighting fish as all species of the jack family are known to be, the Crevalle is king. They are well loved because of the fight but are not a typically eaten due to being a oily, bloody fish.
But that’s what makes them such a good bait fish for sharks, and goliath groupers. If you see a lot of birds diving into the water and the water will appear to have a boiling water look, its most likely that the jacks are having a feeding frenzy on smaller bait fish. Throw your lure or bait in that commotion and its a guarantee that you will have a fish on the end of your line.
The Crevalle Jack is capable of producing croaking sounds by grinding its teeth together while releasing gas from its air bladder.
