Despite their name, these are not trout, but are in the drum fish family, named from the croaking, drumming noise they can make. Still a game fish but not as famous as snook and red drum. With lengths of up to 39” long.
Fun fish to catch due to the consistency when you find them in large schools, they will hit your lure or bait every time you throw it out. South west Florida’s grass flats are well known for having an abundance of sea trout.
